1987 was a particularly strong year for the Dead.  Jerry came back from his coma the previous December and his voice and playing were as strong as ever.  One the surface this looks like a 'so what' show...only 6 songs in set 1 and pretty standard fare post drums.  But take a closer look.  Any time you put Shakedown and Hey Pocky way in the same set, I'll buy it.  The Masterpiece and Althea are also well done.

The big thing for me is the Maggie's Farm>Cumberland.  The two go together perfectly: same vibe/tempo.  Looking into it a little more, they did this 4 times throughout their career. The first being the month before this at Shoreline (10/3/87). So, not a first, but I like the list on this one a little more.  The Playin'>Terrapin that follows is exceptional.  Bobby is on fire for the Throwin' Stones>Lovelight

So why the charts below?  I wanted to see how often they played in November.  Save for 11/11/73 Winterland (amazing Dark Star>Mind Left Body>Eyes) I didn't recall too many that I had in my collection. Turns out that both January and February had less...now you know.  I also went a little overboard and broke the shows out by week, if you are so inclined to look.  The two most active weeks are 13 and 52 (March 25-31st and December 23-31st)...putting in the days took too much real estate.
